Gatlinburg
Tennessee
In 1807 what started off as a small mountain town called White Oak Flats, has now become a bustling tourist destination that brings in millions of visitors every year. The resort town was founded by settlers traveling from South Carolina also known as the Ogle family. In 1854 Radford Gatlin moved to the area and opened the towns second general store. Several years later he opened a post office inside the store which resulted in naming the town Gatlinburg.
Gatlinburg offers a wide variety of things to do for visitors. You can enjoy the scenic views and lush forests through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, go skiing or snow tubing at the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area and Amusement Park, or take a walk on the SkyBridge which is the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America. For another fun experience, you can do a moonshine tasting at Ole Smoky Moonshine. There are some many attractions that the entire family will love such as Ripley's Aquarium, Hollywood Star Cars Museum, the SkyLift, and more.
Whether you enjoy being outdoors, experiencing a variety of attractions, or trying out new restaurants, Gatlinburg has something for everyone.
