Interesting Questions with Allison Hedrick

Curious about the intriguing moments REALTORS® encounter in their careers? Our Midlands agent, Allison Hedrick, who has been with The ART of Real Estate for 3 years spills the beans as we threw some fun questions her way.

1. WHAT'S THE MOST INTERESTING THING YOU'VE SEEN SHOWING A HOUSE? 

ALLISON: Probably decked out samurai room. It had dim lighting and different kinds of samurai swords. It was definitely very cool and historic, but sketchy too because I thought something was going to jump out at me dressed like a ninja.

2. WHAT'S THE MOST AWKWARD THING TO HAPPEN TO YOU WHEN SHOWING A HOUSE? 

ALLISON: I opened a closet door and a lizard jumped right out at me and landed on my chest. I freaked out in front of my clients.  

3. ANY FUNNY BATHROOM STORIES WHEN SHOWING A HOUSE? 

ALLISON: One time I was showing a house and my client asked to use the bathroom with his child, but when he left I found out he had changed the child's diaper and left a dirty diaper in the trashcan at the house that we were showing. So I just kind of laughed it off, but when they left I ran back inside and disposed of the dirty diaper. I wouldn't do that to my sellers.

4. DURING A TRANSACTION, HAVE YOU EVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH ANOTHER AGENT? 

ALLISON: I try to play nice in the sandbox as best as I can and overall, the other agent and I have the same goal in mind. So if we keep that, then everything will end up okay.

5. WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST QUESTION A CLIENT HAS ASKED YOU?

ALLISON: A client was not happy with the fact that I had other buyers that I was working with which I thought was a given because this is my career, but after I explained to him that this is a business and at the end of the day I'm going to have multiple sellers and buyers, he was okay with it. 

6. HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANYTHING DRAMATIC HAPPEN AT THE CLOSING TABLE?

ALLISON: We got to the actual closing and I noticed that my commission was completely left off of the settlement statement. I had to bring it up in front of the clients, which of course they understood because we had that conversation up front, but just a little awkward.

6. WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST THING A CLIENT HAS REQUESTED FROM YOU? 

ALLISON: I had a seller who was just obsessed with their Ring Camera. Every buyer that walked through their house, they would send me videos of them just checking out a room. This just goes to show if you're a buyer to make sure that you keep anything that could hurt your from your negotiation to yourself while you're in the house because sellers can be listening.
