Douglas Lake
Within the quaint town of Dandridge, TN, there are scenic views, shops and other features that add character. The shining blue-green waters of Douglas Lake have a lot to do with that. It's come to be known as one of the most "beautiful hidden gems in Tennessee". The water keeps the foothills of those majestic smoky mountains from drying out, which is why the scenic views remain beautiful season after season.
Not only does Douglas Lake add to the breathtaking scenery, but it also offers water recreational activities and beautiful lakeside lodging. The lake has even earned the title of a BASSMASTER Top 100 Lake, and is considered one of the best lakes for bass fishing in the country. Our favorite aspect of this lake is that there are ways to enjoy the water year-round with pontoon, jet-ski and boat rentals, as well as guided fishing trips.
It's even got history behind it--Douglas Lake was formed when the Tennessee Valley Authority built the Douglas Dam in 1943 to provide hydroelectric power and help with downstream flood control of the Tennessee River Valley.
If you're traveling and taking in all the Smoky Mountains have to offer, stop by Douglas Lake in Dandridge. Plan your getaway at a private cabin, or bring the R/V to one of the many campgrounds and R/V resorts. You won't be disappointed.
