Curious about the intriguing moments REALTORS® encounter in their careers? Our Midlands agent, Michael DeVita, who has been with The ART of Real Estate for 8 years spills the beans as we threw some fun questions his way.

1. WHAT'S THE MOST INTERESTING THING YOU'VE SEEN SHOWING A HOUSE?

MICHAEL: A massive portrait of Batman and Superman kissing each other above the mantle.

2. WHAT'S THE MOST AWKWARD THING TO HAPPEN TO YOU WHEN SHOWING A HOUSE?

MICHAEL: This is pretty personal, but I'll tell you guys anyways. I was leaving a happy hour and had to show in Camden, like 45 minutes away. I was running late so I jumped in my car and had to use the bathroom and I didn't have time to stop to use the bathroom. I thought I could just pee in a bottle on my way there and pretty much just peed on myself instead and had to show the house.

3. ANY FUNNY BATHROOM STORIES WHEN SHOWING A HOUSE?

MICHAEL: I've definitely used the bathroom. This is early on. You've always got to make sure that the water is on before you use the bathroom because if there's not water, the toilet might not flush. So, some people forget that...

4. ANY BAD EXPERIENCES WITH PETS WHEN SHOWING A HOUSE?

MICHAEL: One house I went to, the guy collected exotic animals. So there were like snakes and parrots and bunny rabbits and all this other stuff walking or slithering around. I did not enjoy that.

5. WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST QUESTION A CLIENT HAS ASKED YOU?

MICHAEL: I don't know about weird, but I'll tell you a recurring question clients ask me all the time and it's "why is the light fixture so low?" It's always in the dining room and it's because in a vacant house, there's no table there, so it looks like the light fixture is really low and people are so thrown off by it, but usually there's a table right under it.

6. WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST THING A CLIENT HAS REQUESTED FROM YOU?

MICHAEL: I don't know about that one, but I do know some things I've requested of clients. Some of my buddies were buying a house, a couple, and I requested that they actually drive me around so that I could be in the backseat and kind of commentate the whole about where we were and what houses we were going to see. It's just more fun for me.
