Although I have only lived in the Columbia area for about 3 years, it is the place that I have felt most at home. Growing up in Westhampton Beach, NY until the age of 12, my family relocated to Vero Beach, Fl. I then attended college in Tampa, Fl, living there for a total of 6 years. When I met my husband in 2015 in Tampa, we spoke about living together but both of us wanting to live outside of Florida. We embarked on a month-long road trip to try to find our next destination. Both of us ranked Colorado and the Carolinas at the top of our lists. We tried out Denver, CO for a year and decided it was not for us. Next stop was Columbia, SC! We both instantly fell in love with the charm and opportunity this city brings and decided this was home. We purchased our 6.5-acre property and home in Eastover, just 25 minutes outside of downtown Columbia.
In high school I received my CNA and Phlebotomy certifications, and my first job was in a nursing home. I went on to get my bachelor’s in public health at the University of Tampa. While in college and for some time after I worked in the food service industry. I was a master of all trades, serving/bartending/catering. I loved the customer service aspects of food service but felt I could be using my people skills to be making more of a difference in peoples lives. I ventured back into healthcare. I worked for a short time in an emergency room doing admissions and spent some time as an intake coordinator for home health. I was happy to use my knowledge of healthcare, but I still felt I was missing something. The freedom to be creative in my field and to expand just how much of an impact I could be making on the people I was servicing. I started reflecting on buying our first home. That was the proudest I have ever felt.
The idea of buying our home was very intimidating at first. It is our first home, and it was in a city we barely knew. Our realtor made the entire process easy, educational, and fun! I will forever be grateful for her patience with us. It is truly her influence that made me want to get into the field. I went from being nervous before meeting her, to being excited and confident in our decisions. This is exactly what I want for my clients!
While I am not working, I am hanging out with my Tibetan Terrier’s, as well as my rescue dog and rescue Turtle. You may also find me working on the 18-hole disc golf course that we have on our property, or traveling around the globe playing new courses/tournaments with my husband.
